Swimming in the Butzensee – A Refreshing Summer Hike in Lech Zürs

Crystal-clear mountain water, breathtaking alpine scenery, and a refreshing swim in the heart of the Alps – for me, the Butzensee is the perfect summer destination in Lech Zürs.

On warm summer days, there is nothing I enjoy more than heading into the mountains. One of my favourite hikes leads from Lech or Zürs towards the Mohnenfluh and the beautiful Butzensee.

My Recommendation for Warm Summer Days in Lech Zürs

Surrounded by spectacular alpine scenery, the Butzensee feels wonderfully untouched. Its crystal-clear water shimmers in shades of turquoise and deep blue, making it one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Arlberg region.

I love hikes that include a swim along the way. Even in midsummer, the water is wonderfully refreshing and the perfect reward after a morning on the trails. Afterwards, relaxing on the warm rocks and taking in the panoramic mountain views is pure alpine summer bliss.

If you visit the Butzensee, I recommend setting off early in the morning. The peaceful atmosphere, fresh mountain air and stunning scenery make this one of my favourite experiences in Lech Zürs.

For me, the Butzensee is a place I return to every summer.
