Wanderung nach Bürstegg, Lech

Spring is in the air in Lech-Zürs

When winter quietly loosens its grip and the first warm rays of sunshine brush across the peaks of Lech Zürs am Arlberg, a very special time begins in the mountains: the awakening of spring. It is this quiet transitional phase in which nothing happens with a loud noise—and yet everything is in motion. We took advantage of the beautiful weather over the weekend to hike to Bürstegg.

Hike to Bürstegg

The air is clearer, gentler. The snow is slowly receding, but still lingers in shady hollows and on north-facing slopes. In between: the first splashes of color. Delicate crocuses pushing their way through the last patches of snow. Spring is making its way forward—step by step.

Remnants of snow glisten in the sun, while the first fresh grass is already peeking out from beneath. With a little luck, you might encounter the first marmots—a quiet sign that the Alpine summer is not far off.

After about an hour, you finally reach Bürstegg at around 1,700 meters—one of the highest Walser settlements in Vorarlberg.
Up here, time seems to move more slowly. Old wooden houses, a small church with a view of the surrounding mountains. It’s a leisurely hike and suitable for the whole family.

The hike tells a story. The story of the Walser settlement of Lech. But also of the end of winter. Of the beginning of something new. And of how beautiful it is to consciously experience this transition.

A quiet luxury that can only be found out in nature.
